Hey guys,

This is the lyrics of a nice song, 'This is the moment'
CREDIT: SIR IAN CHAI, because he told about the song to the band 2 years ago, and SIR DOMINIC YAO who has introduced the song to us as it fits in the context.
okay, think about how the lyrics are related to our upcoming SYF and there's some connection between the two.
Hopefully karthik would put up the song on the blog soon.
but if you would want a copy of it, you can ask Sir Dom. :)

This is the moment,
this is the day.
This is the moment,
when i know i'm on my way.
Every endeavour,
i've made ever.
It's coming into play
it's here and now today.

This is the moment,
this is the time.
When the momentum,
and the moment are in rhyme.
Give me this moment,
this momentus moment.
I'll gather up my past,
and make some sense at last.

This is the moment,
when all i've done.
All of the dreaming, scheming and screaming,
becomes one.
This is the day,
just see it shine.
When all i've lived for,
becomes mine.

This is the moment,
this is the earth.
When i can hold tmr,
like a flower.
And with my hand to,
everything i've planned to.
Fulfil my grand desires,
see all my stars alive.

This is the moment,
my final test.
Destiny beckons,
I've never reckoned second best.
I wont look down,
I must not fall.
This is the moment,
the greatest moment,
of them all.

This is the moment,
damn all the earth.
This day will never,
I stay forever with the gods.
When i look back,
I will recall.
That this was the moment,
the greatest moment,
the sweetest moment,
of them all.

Enrichment Day

Today was quite an ENRICHING day. (GEDDIT GEDDIT!?!?) Anyway, I'm sure we all learnt a lot from our various modules. Tomorrow is e-learning day, which I feel has an extremely important purpose(holiday) and the day after that, Saturday, will be our concert! That is our 'final round' before SYF, the last time we can get used to the SCH environment. Time is precious. But remember not to stress yourselves out too much. Some photos to cheer you all up(:

Zainula! And his painted Slippers. Btw, he spelt Music as Mucic. What a mat!
The stupid boy, Ben Tan!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light and not our darkness that most frightens us."
"Darkness does not always equate to evil, as light does not always equate to goodness". Lol.

Having no confidence is better than being overconfident. Being modest is better than having ego. We do not play to win, we play to show the best that we can do. No bandsmen would step out of Singapore Conference Hall, with tears in his eyes, mourning over what they achieved. Whatever it is that we get for SYF, we receive it with honour. In memory of all the blood we shed, let us be proud of what we will achieve.

Well, what Sufi said iz right, (along with refreshing cheemology). But on the flip side, remember that although we WILL try our best for SYF, there is always the chance of a Random Element in Life, nothing is certain, now or forever, just remember that we tried out best, and be, not to the extent of arrogance, proud of what we will play for SYF, and we will reap our reward after.

"Thou shalt try, for no one else may try for thy, thy blessing, or thy curse bestowed upon thy, is what thou hath shown worthy for."

Although it has been 10 years since we last achieved a Gold, there is no reason that we MUST achieve it now. I was wrong to say that. Obsession in what we desire blocks us from getting it. Pride comes before a fall. Remember that.

A Story to Share

In the ancient times, King Yao told his successor, Shun, that he was going to mount an offensive against three neighbouring nations,but he also admitted that he was uncomfortable in the position of being ruler. Shun studied the meaning of this and replie, "The kings who rule those nations are as wild animals. Why do you feel uncomfortable? Long ago there were ten suns that appeared and illuminated all the earth. Likewise is not viture superior to any sun?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is power? This parable suggests that true authority rests in virtue rather than position. We need not fear an opposing force when we are in the right. Wrong may prevail for a season but will not endure. Those who would assume the mantle of leadership are often forced into difficult positions. Sometimes lives are at stake. Sometimes doubts arise. It is truly a lonely existence when one is given ultimate authority. The best we can do in a position of leadership is to remain true to our values. The principles that have guided people in ages past may be the same principles we can use to make decision in our times or crisis or indecision.
Batch BBQ
Umm... Since there is a concert on the next day, and because we don't want to distract our batch from SYF, we are shifting the BBQ to after SYF. It'll probably be on the weekend right after the competition. SYF is ony 10 days away! Keep working hard!
Brian
:1:36 PM
Good job(:
Alright, first of all, PLEASE POST!!!!!
Yeah.. anyway, Instructor's Course was just over, but the process still goes on. I'm sure we all learnt a lot about leadership and the band. And I'm sure we all bonded a lot more through these 3 days. Haha. The dance was really enlightening. Don't forget the timing! 1, 2, 3, Spasm, 1, Spasm, 1, Spasm, SPASM! 1, 2, 3, Bang, 2, 2, 3, Bang.... and yeah so on. Haha really interesting. Batch dance! So yeah anyway, our focus should be back on SYF cause it's coming in less than 2 weeks! [refer to countdown --> ] Oh and I don't think we're supposed to be revealing anything about Instructor's Course to the Sec 2s. So all Sec 2s who visit this blog, don't bother to ask us. Yeah..
And oh yeah, this Friday is e-learning day, a totally useless purpose, but a totally helpful holiday. So Brian, Samuel and I thought that we can have another batch outing on that day.We decided that we can have BBQ and games at Brian's Condo. He will check whether it is open for booking and we should probably finalize by Wednesday at the max. The next day would be our concert so I don't think there is going to be parade in the morning so we can afford to enjoy to A BIT late say, 10/11pm? Anyway all details on Wednesday/Thursday. Book this day ah! Don't go for class outings or whatsoever. Yeah..
SJIMB Graduating Batch of 2010, FTW!
Watch! Damn freaking funny! Haha. Lol. Anyway, tomorrow is St.Pat's Day. Make sure starch your tunic properly, polish your boots until shiny shiny and also your brass parts. All the usual stuff. Tomorrow is gonna be damn tiring so just be prepared. Mainly cause,
"Stretching only 4.1 kilometres from its mouth at Anderson Bridge to Kim Seng Bridge at the other end, the Singapore River flows under 12 bridges and sees numerous historical buildings on its banks."
Yeah. Thats pretty long so try your best to persevere. We can do it! Hope tomorrow will be a successful day. We appeared on the newspapers so don't disgrace the band's reputation. When you're marching don't keep thinking about how hot the weather is or how slowly we are moving. Try to enjoy the music we are playing and the drum solos. That way we won't be so discouraged. =)
Once again, good luck to everyone!
Karthik ;D
P.S. Can more people post!? Please don't lead this blog to its death!
I just want to add on to what Zuriel said. I agree that we have to do our best and do it OUR way. We must put on a good show and that way we'll avoid disappointment. Anyway, Mrs Chua always mentions that on Thursdays we play very bad. So I just feel that we should be less sian. Since tomorrow is Friday's time-table, last period would be PSE - a non-examinable subject. So like, it wont be so tiring so just get a bit more hyped up for band during PSE , that way you wont be so sian when you play your instrument. So yeah, hope you get what I'm trying to say. Good luck anyways. Cheers!
Lets do our best!
hey guys havent posted in a while cause cant use com but all i want to say is tat it actually does not matter whether we are the first or second band or even the last!!! But its what we do which matters, I dont mind our band getting COP for SYF u know, what matters is that we all do our best! Enjoy the music youre playing, dont worry anything else other than playing our music... i repeat OUR MUSIC. We aint any band which just goes out and play anything just because we are told to, we play our music because we enjoy it!
D: they should have section to section exchange lah.
exchange.
Alright, tomorrow got another exchange. Round 3.
I already mentioned in my previous post, about the benefits of the exchange. Tomorrow, there is a high possibility that there will be interaction. Let's all try not to be distracted(yes, including me). Let's try to learn as much as we can. There are some good GOLD schools that are coming over so yeah, make the most of it. Be on our best behaviour, especially cause' we are hosting so it's pretty important. That's basically all I wanted to say.
Forza Sec 3s!!
Randomness
Ok...its really scary, because no one's posted since the we are the FIRST band on the FOURTH day thing, so to fill up the space...yup, poetry
"Years of Exile we spent, deep in the Scourge;
Till we seeked up Banehallow;
Alas came the Battle of Jericho (XD);
And we learnt of Tiny's Grow! (wtf);
As SJIMB earned their victory;
Along came Boaz with his Caterpie!"
erm...yea even more random than tjhe last one
and I hope you all ARE STILL coming to this blog often ... because I think that some people in our batch look in on this like..once every week?
Thursday, March 5, 2009:8:26 PM
Hello people.
For those of you who still don't know.. We are the FIRST band, on the FOURTH day. I don't know if that is lucky or not, but yeah. That's our time to shine. Hopw all our work would be put to good use. And just to add, we are on the same day as Marsiling Sec. Okay, bye bye.
Dota Poetry!!!
Hi!@ I'm feeling R4nD0M today, so i decided to write dota poetry!!
(and because no one's posted anything since Ben Tan's poetry)
The following is rated PG-14:
There was once a being, filled with power and might;
Subverted to the Scourge, filled with its unholy blight;
Made into a vicious force;
fighting for an evil cause;
subverted he was by the Sentinel's whore;
whom he pledged his love to forevermore;
Such tragedy and irony, for;
what was his name? Nevermore.
ROFL. LAME LAME LAME. but i'm bored 0,0
:7:26 PM
Exchange.
Alright. For those who still don't see the point of the exchange, as Samuel said, it was to let us have a feeling of SYF and more importantly, a feel of how other bands play and how we can learn from them. For a lot of us, we thought that Marsiling was the best band that played in the exchange. But prior to the exchange, whenever Mr Tan or Mrs Chua told us that Marsiling were more hardworking than us or better than us, I always thought, honestly, that it was for the simple task of motivation. To make us work harder, so I didn't really take it seriously when they compared them with us. However, after listening to Marsiling on Friday, it occured to me that maybe it was the simple fact that they were more hardworking than us, which accounted for them sounding better. They obey Mr Tan and Mrs Chua more than us. For example, when they were playing, you could see the whole clarinet section in front moving along with the music in full synchronization. On the other hand, not everyone in our band takes the effort to indulge in the music and move along. We have to change our attitude I guess. We have to wake up from our ideas. The ideas that lead us to thinking that we are improving thus we WILL get a gold. Remember that every band out there is improving as well and that there is no assurance that we WILL get a gold just because we are improving and are reaching that 'gold standard'. So yeah, the point is, don't get complacent and KEEP PRACTISING. Cheers!
Oh yeah, heres the retardizm of Benjamin Tan Ern Jieh, with me playing along.
